A speeding biker killed after crashing into a cement pillar on a Queens street was identified as Daniel Hernandez, 25. The crash occurred near 50th Avenue about 9 p.m. on November 1, the police informed. The pillar holds the Brooklyn Queens Expressway overpass and is at the end of Calvary Cemetery.

Hernandez, who was living in Ridgewood, Queens, was rushing east on Laurel Hill Boulevard in Sunnyside. He was riding a blue 2007 Yamaha. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but still ended with traumatic bodily injuries and died at the scene.

The state of New York is strict about motorcyclists wearing helmets. However, even the helmet is not a warranty for the life of the rider. Motorcyclists aren’t protected so even a small impact can be fatal for them.

The number of motorcycle accidents is almost as high as that of car accidents. Speeding, negligence, splitting lanes, road bumps, open doors of cars are only a few of the many factors that contribute to these types of collisions. Drivers of vehicles are often unable to spot motorcyclists due to their size. When drivers make a left turn, they usually look for other large vehicles and fail to notice an approaching motorcycle.

If you’re a motorcyclist and end up in an accident because of someone else’s negligence, you can seek a claim for your injuries and damages. To do this, consult with a New York motorcycle accident attorney. They would review your case and help you collect evidence, file the claim, and negotiate with the insurance company (in case they offer a low settlement).

If you need legal help for such matters, allow our team at Cellino Law to review your case and help you file the claim. Our mission is to help you collect your settlement.
