A Veterans Memorial Highway accident in Hauppauge, Suffolk, injured one and closed a section of the highway. The accident happened at around 1 a.m. on April 13.

The police informed that a pickup truck was going westbound on Veterans Memorial Highway, turned onto Raoul Wallenberg Drive, where it was hit by a sedan. One man was injured with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. The pickup driver was not injured.

The police continue to investigate the reasons for the Veterans Memorial Highway accident.

After an accident it’s important to remember several things; stop and stay at the scene, check if you or anyone else is injured and call the medics (even if the injuries are minor). Step out of the vehicle and contact the police. Afterwards exchange contact info with the other drivers involved in the crash.

Although many people don’t think of attorneys in such moments, it’s a smart idea to call yours if you have one. If not, contact a car accident attorney and follow their instructions. The police will ask you questions and anything you say may be used against you. Even something that sounds like apologizing may be interpreted as admitting fault, and things may go in a different direction for you (even if you didn’t cause the accident).

Seeking a compensation claim is your right; your attorney will help you to write the demanding letter, negotiate for you and even investigate the accident if it’s necessary. The insurance company works with a team of lawyers and you shouldn’t go into the process on your own. Things might appear clear, and the insurers will still do their best not to offer you the deserved amount.

If you were recently involved or injured in a crash, our team of New York car accident attorneys will help you with your case.

  • Joe and I just wanted to send you this note thanking you for the professional way you handled our lawsuit. Your kindness was extremely appreciated in a very difficult time. When we found out the people that caused the accident had no insurance, we thought our chances of receiving any settlement was nonexistent. Once we met with you and released you were able to help us our minds were put at ease. Your aggressive manner of handling the case exceeded our expectations. Please feel free to use us as a reference. Thank you so much and best wishes,
