A drunk driver killed a sixteen-year-old girl on Saturday in the early morning hours. It was a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Oswego County, troopers informed.

The New York State Police said that Kaydence E. Nichols from Hannibal, died after the pickup truck hit her while she was walking on the side of State Route 176 in Hannibal.

Another teenager, Riley P. Trumble, was also hit by the truck. Seventeen-year-old Trumble from Hannibal, is in a critical state, hospitalized at a Syracuse hospital.

Both teenagers were students at Hannibal High School.  The crash happened sometime after 12:30 a.m. on Route 176, on a two-lane rural highway.

Christopher J. Rogers II was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck and was traveling west State Route 176 when he hit the two teenagers as they walked on the shoulder of the road, according to the troopers. A third person was with Nichols and Trumble was not injured.

Rogers immediately escaped the scene and did not stop his truck.

Sixteen-year-old Nichols was pronounced dead at the scene. Trumble although severely injured, is now in a stable condition after and is hospitalized in Upstate University Hospital.

The police found Rogers and his pickup shortly after the accident. Twenty-nine-year-old Rogers from 217 Germandale Drive, Fulton, was arrested by troopers and charged with a felony – second-degree vehicular manslaughter, a felony- leaving the scene in a fatal motor vehicle accident, a felony – second-degree vehicular assault, and misdemeanor – driving while intoxicated.

  • Cellino Law was a great company to work with. From the beginning they came out and met with my uncle and myself and assured us that everything would be taken care of from beginning to end our lawyer state and constant contact with us to make sure that everything would go smoothly and it did. I would definitely recommend anybody to go to Cellino Law for whatever help they need. And specifically please ask for the lawyer that we had Mr. Alan Silverstein. He was amazing and his staff was always attentive. Please go with them for your next law needs.
